Ran is the Nordic goddess of the sea, and of warriors who have drowned in the sea. Her home was known as Ran’s Bader (or Ran’s bed). She was also thought to have ensnared sailors, drawing them into the water with her net, to her under sea realm. There are many parallels connecting the Nordic goddess, and Sedna, the Inuit goddess of the Sea.
